What to look for in your Rosarito restaurant experience.
It's hard to describe so few restaurants as 'top restaurants' or 'favorites' when there are nearly 300 restaurants in Rosarito. There are however, a few different types of eating experiences to choose from when you come to Rosarito.
The first thing to understand is that the municipality of Rosarito is a big place with downtown restaurants, coastal restaurants and like any other city, a combination of restaurants in neighborhoods and out fo the way spots.
If you are downtown.
Most folks coming to Rosarito will end up in the vicinity of the Rosarito Beach Hotel and all of the tourist walking sites and beach, including the pier. There are tons of great open air carne asada taco spots you have to try if this is your first introduction to Baja cuisine. Tacos El Yaqui has evolved as a higher end marinated and grilled beefsteak taco that has been the rage with locals, funding continued expansion of this popular spot just off the main street. ACUA restaurant is a great place to stop while you are walking and shopping and watch the world go by outside and sample their magnificent seafood.
Downtown dining indoors in a warm atmosphere includes Bistro le Cousteau which has a nice fireplace and food besides French as well. Chabert's inside the Rosarito beach hotel is more of a finer dining option but not unreasonable cost-wise.

Around The City
Borrego is a specialty in Rosarito at a number of places and worth looking for as it's own unique experience. Look for the historic Hacienda de Badu for a giant multi-dimensional spread of roast lamb with all the fixings. Bring someone to help you eat it all. Birria is another specialty (traditional Mexican goat meat stew) which is served many different ways including on tacos. The slow and meticulous preparation is a flavor experience locals as well as visitors savor.
The Coast
We know why you're here in this beautiful and touristy beach town, but travelling a little farther down the coast will bring you to many of the ocean-front restaurants along the 'free road' that each offer spectacular views and a unique and hard to find atmosphere north of the border. If you want an exclusive feel with a four seasons attitude, try SUNIO Beach Club at Castillos Del Mar Hotel. It's a little hard to find, but this hidden away gem is worth it with private beach and exclusivity. Keep going further south to the Cuenca Lechera area and you will come to a concentration of five popular restaurants anchored by the iconic Splash - who was the first pioneer to build in this dramatic setting. Just walking between these restaurants is a festive experience in itself with plenty of great food, live music and ocean view cocktails to please everyone.

Are there other experiences? You Bet.
Everyone has their favorites, and you are encouraged to explore. Everything from food courts and Sushi to pop up roadside vendors and bakeries are available, making Rosarito truly a food lovers paradise. Try the giant crab in Popotla where they give you a beach stone to break open the crab legs. You can even get pizza delivered to you on the beach or stop in for all night tacos on your way home after dancing. The best part is, compared with the states, your money will go a long way in Baja, the seafood is fresh, the wine is local, the micro-brews are original and all of the meats and game are just what you're looking for.
If you're coming to Rosarito - bring your appetite.
